  • 8% of high school students maintained they tried cocaine when in high school.
  • 19% of eight graders, 28% of tenth graders. And 38% of teens admitted that cocaine is easy to get.

According to a survey conducted by the White House in 2008 called the National Survey on Drug Use and Health came up with the following findings:

  • More than 35 million Americans over 12 years of age have admitted using cocaine at least one.
  • In last year’s study, almost 5.3 million and 1.9 million Americans admitted using cocaine in the last year and the last month respectively.
  • Around 722,000 people over 12 years of age tried cocaine for the first time in the last one year. This accounts for almost 2000 new users every day. This number is lower than the figure reported for 2007. Overall, there has been a gradual decline in cocaine use.

Cocaine rehabilitation centers are found throughout the country that enable a user to break out of the vicious cycle of addiction. This allows them to rejoin their families and the community to lead a productive and fulfilling life.

Once the sober living program is completed successfully, the patients are able to join their families and return to their former lives with skill sets that can ward off the chances of relapse. However, the recovery doesn’t end once rehab stay is complete. Recovery is a lifelong process that has its own sets of ups and downs. Patients learn how to cope with life and its daily demands and rely on support systems of the family and the community instead of returning to using cocaine.
