Puerto Rico Cocaine Addiction Rehabilitation

Recent surveys have found that almost 14 percent of the patients who seek drug related recovery programs are cocaine addicts. Approximately 1.7 million Americans are currently suffering from a cocaine addiction problem. Addiction impacts both the lives of the users as well as everyone involved. Many cases involving family disputes, divorces, and children abandonment can be linked to a cocaine addiction.

Detoxification – The first thing that any recovery plan involves is detoxification of the body. This means that the user has to drain the body of toxins through withdrawal. The physical and emotional effects of a withdrawal in themselves can be enervating. Crashing for several days during withdrawal is a common occurrence. There will always be episodes of increased craving, agitation and irritability. There is also a chance of experiencing sleeplessness, nausea, stomach aches, and other complications.

The White House Drug Policy study also found the statistics for cocaine use among teenagers. These are as follows:

  • 3.3% of all high school and college student admittedly use cocaine currently.
  • 8% of high school students maintained they tried cocaine when in high school.
  • 19% of eight graders, 28% of tenth graders. And 38% of teens admitted that cocaine is easy to get.

These are the reasons why going through detox at a rehabilitation center for cocaine addiction is so important. Medical staff is always available to check on the condition of the patient. If there is a need for medical supplements, it can be provided easily. The medical staff will regularly check the vital statistics for any rapid changes that might occur in the body of the patient. The whole detoxification process can last from three days to a whole week.

Once the sober living program is completed successfully, the patients are able to join their families and return to their former lives with skill sets that can ward off the chances of relapse. However, the recovery doesn’t end once rehab stay is complete. Recovery is a lifelong process that has its own sets of ups and downs. Patients learn how to cope with life and its daily demands and rely on support systems of the family and the community instead of returning to using cocaine.

200 Belle Terre Rd, Port Jefferson, NY, 11777
Overview

Saint Charles Hospital was originally founded in 1907 and was first known as the Brooklyn Home. The center was founded by a group of nuns who were concerned about homeless children in the area with certain disabilities. Shortly after, in 1910, the center was renamed to Saint Charles Hospital. Over the years, the center has expanded their facility, as well as the services that they are able to offer patients who come to them. Today, Saint Charles Hospital forms part of the Catholic Health Services system and is a complete healthcare solution that can also assist patients who are having difficulties with substance abuse disorders, as well as those who are struggling to overcome co-occurring disorders. The specialized Chemical Dependency Rehabilitation unit of Saint Charles Hospital can provide addiction recovery services to patients over 18 years of age. The service is voluntary, and the hospital makes a point of letting patients know that they will never keep them in the program against their will.

Types Of Treatment Provided

Patients are assessed by a counselor when they first come to Saint Charles Hospital in order to ensure a program can be developed for the patient that will help them overcome their addiction and remain sober over the long run. Once the assessment is completed, the patient may be required to undergo detoxification before they can be entered into the residential treatment program that is offered in the Saint Charles Hospital rehabilitation unit. There are various treatment options that may be included in the patient’s program in order to maximize their results, such as:12-step principle addiction recovery program | Counseling services | Breathalyzer tests and urine screens | Medical supervision services | Homework assignments | WorkshopsPatients are also provided access to aftercare services once they have completed the main residential treatment program offered at Saint Charles Hospital.

Methods of Addiction Treatment

Therapy is considered a vital part of the treatments offered at Saint Charles hospital, which is why every patient will be provided access to a dedicated counselor that will be helping them throughout their recovery. Patients will also undergo group therapy while in treatment, and they will gain access to support groups.

Amenities

Patients who are being treated at the Saint Charles Hospital will be provided access to the cafeteria located inside the facility, where they will be served three meals on a daily basis. Patients in the rehabilitation unit will dine at the cafeteria with patients in other units of the hospital. Patients will also be provided access to a dietitian, who will be able to assist in ensuring a special menu can be compiled for those patients with special dietary needs.

Payment Type Accepted

No details are provided in terms of the payment options that patients are provided access to when they need to undergo a treatment program in the rehabilitation unit of Saint Charles Hospital. Patients will need to inquire about the possibility of their insurance program being accepted at the center should they have an active insurance policy. The admissions staff members will be able to verify the patient’s insurance policy benefits and determine if the patient may have any out-of-pocket expenses for treatment. Patients who are not insured may also inquire about the possibility of paying their bill over multiple installments if they are unable to afford the full bill payment amount upfront.

Staff

Saint Charles Hospital is a relatively large facility that offers a large range of healthcare services to patients in the local area. While they do have a platform that patients can use to find specific doctors that are part of their facility, there is no indication of the specific doctors or psychiatrist who form part of the drug addiction program that the facility offers. Patients who are interested in learning more about the staff members who are active in this particular unit of Saint Charles Hospital will need to visit the center or get in touch with the administrative staff to request more information. These staff members would be able to help the patient understand if the treatment team at the rehabilitation unit is appropriately experienced and qualified to provide them with addiction recovery services.

Licence(s)

Saint Charles Hospital does not offer any particular details on their official website in terms of whether their rehabilitation unit has been accredited by appropriate authorities within the United States, or by any international bodies like the Joint Commission. We were also unable to determine if the rehabilitation center at Saint Charles hospital has been licensed by the local state-based departments in New York. Patients should contact the center directly if they would like to find out about the licenses that have been issued to their rehabilitation unit, or any appropriate accreditations that have been awarded to the addiction treatment services.

Tuerk House

730 N. Ashburton Street, Baltimore, MD, 21216
Overview

Tuerk House is a substance abuse treatment program founded back in 1970 in Baltimore, Maryland. The treatment program provides both outpatient and residential treatments at different facilities. While Tuerk House is the main campus, other locations include Nilsson House, a halfway house for women, Weisman-Kaplan House or a halfway house for men just like Howard House. Tuerk House provides its services to men and women in need regardless of their ability to pay. The treatment center has been around for decades meaning they have vast experience in this area. This can only be a good thing mostly because addiction is a serious, but manageable problem which requires expertise and knowledge of team members who work with the patients. The official website also features success stories of patients who’ve overcome their addiction. There’s no better way to get motivated other than to read the positive experiences of other people who went through the same thing. Tuerk House is a reputable treatment center whose primary mission is to transform lives by providing help and hope to patients and their families.

Types Of Treatment Provided

Tuerk House provides residential or inpatient services to men and women who want to overcome drug or alcohol problem. Duration of stay is usually 30 days and it starts with a thorough exam followed by a detox, if necessary. Bear in mind the treatment center is not equipped to deal with alcohol and benzodiazepine detoxification services. During the residential treatment, patients undergo various therapies. They attend therapies individually, in groups, or with family members in order to deal with their demons more effectively and beat addiction. A typical day starts at 8.30am with a lecture that also serves as the focus for treatment during that day. The treatment day ends at 9.30pm. There is out an outpatient clinic which supports clients waiting to come to the residential treatment. Basically, the clinic helps patients with drug or alcohol addiction while they’re still waiting to be admitted to inpatient treatment form. That’s a great way to help people, particularly patients whose addiction is severe.

Methods of Addiction Treatment

Patients who come to Tuerk House don’t struggle with addiction only, they have a number of unresolved issues which only contributed to their problem. That’s why the treatment center provides various therapies whose main goal is to improve a patient’s mental health and wellbeing. As a result, that particular person is more likely to overcome the addiction problem and start a healthier and happier life. While there isn’t much about therapies on the official website, they still gave us a glimpse into the types of therapies that are available. For example, Tuerk House employs motivational interviewing, vocational training, social skill development, small group therapy, social learning, self-help meetings, and individual sessions.

Amenities

Tuerk House doesn’t have a huge list of amenities, but only because they focus on the quality of service. In order to learn more about all the amenities available to patients, you can contact the treatment center.

Payment Type Accepted

Unfortunately, the official website of Tuerk House does not provide information about payment options. There is nothing about the price or costs of the treatment. At the same time, they don’t explain what insurance plans cover treatment at their facility if any. Sure, one can find all this information by contacting them but it would be practical to display these details for families and potential patients to see. We can only expect that Tuerk House, like other treatment centers, accepts major insurances and credit cards.

Staff

Despite the fact that Tuerk House is transparent about its services, mission, and purpose there’s not much information about staff members. For some staff members, there’s a short bio while for others it’s nonexistent. What we do know is that Tuerk House employs 70 staff members which include psychiatrists, counselors, doctors, nurses, administrators, and other team members. All of them work together to help patients recover and start a new chapter of their life. Below you can see some of the team members that take care of patients at Tuerk House.Albert ArringtonAlbert Arrington has been working at Tuerk House since 1992. He has worked at different levels of drug treatment ranging from inpatient and outpatient to halfway house counselor to the manager.Other staff membersBesides Mr. Arrington, senior staff members at Tuerk House include:Bernard Gyebi-Foster – interim executive director | Mark Bernard – Weisman Kaplan site manager | Mayra Diaz – interim director of residential services | Vanessa Lyle – benefits authorization coordinator | Dr. Kofi Owusu – medical director | Fredricka Richardson – director of nursing
